The Butterfly Project |
||
|
Dear Resident,
I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on over the last few months: The Butterfly Project, created in collaboration with Rising Sun, a charity that provides vital support to victims of domestic abuse.
This project features seven butterfly murals placed around Ashford Town Centre. Each mural includes a unique QR code linking to important information on topics related to violence against women and girls (VAWG) — including stalking and harassment, being an active bystander, Clare’s Law, recognising the signs of domestic abuse, and staying safe on public transport. The QR codes take you to advice and resources from Kent Police and Rising Sun, offering support to anyone who may need it.
The butterfly is a symbol of hope, transformation and new beginnings and I want people to feel empowered by the artwork.
My aim was to create a visible, creative and accessible way to remind people that help is available and no one is ever alone. I hope the murals encourage people to stop, take photos, and explore the guidance available.
📍 Where to find the murals Ashford International Train Station (by the bike shed) Coachworks Station Road East Hill Elwick Road (on the hoarding by Swanton House)
If you spot one, feel free to share a photo and use the hashtag #AshfordButterflyProject— raising awareness helps more than you know.
Kind regards
